Are you in the habit of putting things off until the last minute?
If you think about it, how many opportunities have you missed in your career and personal life due to the fact that you failed in taking the action needed to successfully reach your goals and move you forward.
In my own life I have wasted many hours, days, months and even years through avoidance of important tasks, and missed numerous opportunities as a result of my inaction. You know what to do, you have the ability and desire to do it, but still you don’t do it. This is called procrastination and is one of life’s biggest dream killers.
“Procrastination usually results in sorrowful regret. Today´s duties put off until tomorrow give us a double burden to bear, the best way is to do them in their proper time.”
- Ida Scott Taylor -
It is a strange illogical behavior that gets between what you want in your life and what you eventually will achieve, who you are and who you can be. Procrastination affects everyone to some degree and in most cases only affects certain areas of your life – you always make time to watch your favorite TV program or socialize with your friends.
So many people with so much talent fail to live up to their true potential because of procrastination. We are always waiting for the right time and opportunity before we take action. The truth is, now is the time to start working on developing yourself and your ability to take the action needed that will move you towards what you desire in your life.
Stop looking for excuses why you are not doing what you have to do and start looking for good enough reasons to do it. You have a great life just waiting for you to live it, don’t allow procrastination to keep you from enjoying and experiencing your life to the fullest.
Remember that procrastination is a habit that can be replaced with a mindset of action. Procrastination is a call to action and all action flows from decision. Ask yourself: “What action can I take right now to move me forward towards the achievement of my goals?”
